GWEN pre-order question - Guild Wars Forums

I just preordered GWEN from Gamestop and I ask the guy, "When do you think you'll be getting in the pre-order goodies?" because according to the gamestop website, theres a special beta event coming up that I want to be apart of. The guy goes "Oh, we don't get anything in untill we get the game in." (or something along those lines) which I know is BS. Why would thier website say the preorder gives you access to the beta event, if you don't get anything untill the actual game is released?

ANYWAYS, my question is: Does anybody know when the pre-order package is going to be released? So I'll know when to go back and check for the stuff? (Feel free to flame me if this has been asked before; I tried looking, but I'm not all that good with search functions. x.x; ) (that and the forums enjoy not loading half the time for me)

For the prerelease pack, I think "July 20th" (or after), has been floating around here somewhere. I could be wrong.

also, please be aware that most of the people working in Gamestop etc are pretty damn clueless. They may know a bit about computer games and what not, but when it comes to how company X is going about the release of game Y, they know jack and squat.

Unfortunately, I know this quite well. x_x; Out of the 3 Gamestops I have been to, only ONE has ever impressed me. (and that's not because the girl who works there is damn cute. Nope. It's because they always go out of their way to help me find the game I'm looking for!...The cute girl is just the icing on the cake. x3)

nah, the icing on the cake is knowing that she's cute and into gaming!!! YUMM!!!

NEVER....EVER!!!! Pre-order....it's a freakin rip-off. You may or may not get the item and they get your money while you wait and see...If it doesn't come, you have ZERO recourse and a message saying "too damned bad....we got your money and made no guarantee" Then when you contact ANet they give you a "so sorry, items are limited" doesn't matter how early you pre-order....people after you might get the item while you don't...all the while, companies involve collect the interest on the cash you spent loooooong before ever seeing the product (with or with out the pre-order item)...you may get hosed. I personally have been burned by the practice or the "pre-order" 6 of 8 times through Best Buy and EB Games...I will NOT fall for it again. I had one of my students get the pre-order item AND a free T-shirt going into Fred Meyer's on the day of release....I pre-ordered 4 months earlier and got squat!....NEVER EVER pre-order...juust a way for the companies involved to get your cash without having to give you anything extra in return...scam! Only a few people get it...sometimes it's broken and they don't fix it...sometimes they change the properties of it later making it worthless....why bother?

TwinRaven: I have only pre-ordered things... two or three times in my life. And everytime it has worked out. I remember pre-ordering Factions from gamestop when the pre-orders first came available. ...Then I remember spending hours slobbering over the DVD casing of the pre-order because at the time I was being forced to live in a hotel without a computer (family was homeless for around 7 weeks at one point.) and was unable to play it or enjoy the pre-ordered goodness. ;.;

Besides, GameStop lets me pay as little as 5 dollars to preorder something. I don't have to pay the rest untill the game comes in. So if I do end up getting cheated, Psh. They'll only get 5 bucks from me!

Ace: Pardon the rant above, but gads!!!! Worst pre-order ever: BloodRayne (not even that good a game)...Pre-ordered through EB Games in July, waiting for Halloween release...PC version was a no-show for a whole YEAR! EB refused to refund. People with good luck make me green with envy...Prophecies pre-order item wasn't even max dam, but ok...Factions pre-order I got hosed...by Nightfall, I gave up.

can you help explain some of these concerns, cause i have also heard there is a "pre-release" date July 20th (a special event last only that day). is this true?

According to the information, thats the release date for the prerelease pack and the start of preorders for GW:EN and i believe the preorder pack will also be available from the ingame store from this date too and I know where I'm getting mine)
